“The Bestest Toys Of 2008

Seriously tho, in a blink of an eyelid, 2008 is gonna go poof in less than a month’s time (where’s all the time gone to dammit?) …. And unlike my failed solo attempt at compiling a Best-Of-List for 2007 (been bugged about it for an entire year dammit) - maybe this year, I’d try asking YOU folks to “help” instead! (Share the joy and effort, I say!) - Because, what’s a year-end without looking back at what had gone on before, innit? So the question is/are: Who do YOU think is/are the BESTEST TOYS of 2008?

(could be designer vinyl, plush, mass market toy etc)
(2) BESTEST TOY SERIES Of 2008

(From a toy company that has made more than a single toy for 2008 - boutique or mass producers)
(4) BESTEST TOY DESIGNER / CREATOR For Production Toys Released in 2008
(From a toy that has been produced and made available in year ending 2008)

- If you’re in the mood to rant? GO HERE for the Worstest Toy of 2008 instead. This isn’t the post to do it in, thanks :)

Disney’s Stitch Experiment 626 Project Custom Art Tour

December 3rd, 2008

Kicking off here in Hong Kong, from our DNM neighbours - MINDstyle:

“Disney’s Stitch Experiment 626 Project Custom Art Tour features custom interpretations of a special DIY 10″ Stitch figure from some of the hottest designers, artists, and customizers working to redefine the visual landscape. Presented and produced by MINDstyle, the multi-stop tour showcases top artistic talent amid a thematic installation that celebrates the year-round beauty of  Kauai, Hawaii the setting of the beloved Lilo & Stitch animated film.

MINDstyle and 3-Mix presented the launch event  this Past Friday (11.28) in Hong Kong @ MINDstyle’s LIFEstyle space in the Delay No Mall (DNM).  “

“The custom Stitches on display in Hong Kong showcase the creativity as well as the aesthetic range of the participating artists.  From the lovely painted pieces by painters Miss Mindy and Camilla d’Errico to the wildly imaginative 3D explorations from the likes of HK designers Winson Ma and Ultraman, each custom figure presents a unique vision of Stitch. Many collectors have mentioned that the quality of the work shown is remarkably high and we’re certainly in agreement.  With the constant wave of custom shows, it’s great to see a well-curated one with excellent work throughout.

After Hong Kong, the  tour will travel to NYC in February for a show @ The Showroom NYC which is timed to coincide with Toy Fair and New York Comic-Con. Several new pieces will debut at the NYC show including customs from Kathie Olivas, Ron English, Brandt Peters, Touma, DEVILROBOTS, Secret Base, Mad Barbarians, kaNODe La Barracuda  and more.  The tour will  then move on to several other venues across the globe including a summer stop in Los Angeles (6.26).  The tour concludes in December ‘09 in the perfect location — sunny  Kauai, Hawaii. The  home of Lilo and Stitch will provide a welcome warm getaway from the cold harsh days of winter.”
